Toddler Group

Every week volunteers from the church run a toddler group for parents or carers and their toddles, this runs weekly during term time.


Mondays 9:15-11:00


Under 5’s

Parents, Grandparents, Carers all welcome


Toys to play with, story and songs, light refreshments, served with snacks for both carer and toddler.


£2 for 1 adult and 1 child, 50p per extra child

No booking needed, just turn up and you will be welcomed

Messy Church

We run Messy Church term time on the second Wednesday of the month from 3pm-5:30pm.

 

Messy Church aims to provide a safe place for families to come and get creative, be hosted and praise together. MEssy Church is the ideal place for unchurched families who want to investigate the faith.


No need to book, just turn up and you will be welcomed

This event is free but we do ask for a donation of whatever you can towards food.

Men’s Circle

Held on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7.30 pm in the Small Hall. 


We enjoy Christian fellowship, interesting speakers,  and the occasional meal.

Renovation team

The Renovation Team meets on Wednesday mornings to do practical work

in and around our church premises.


We would love any help or support you can offer to this team of people. All hands are a great help.

The Table Tennis club meets every Friday at 7.30 pm.  All ages welcome.

23rd Wakefield Scouts

 23rd Wakefield Scout Headquarters are located behind the main church building.

They run Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.

These run weekly, during term time.


Beavers, Tuesday, 6:15-7:15pm, Age 6-8

Cubs, Thursday, 6:30-8:00pm, Age 8-10&1/2

Scouts, Tuesday, 7:30-9:00pm, Age 10&1/2-14

37th Wakefield Girl Guides

37th Wakefield Girl guides use the halls within the church to host their meetings.

They run Rainbows, Brownies, Guides and Rangers.

These run weekly, during term time.

Brownies, Thursdays, 6:00-7:15pm, Age 7-10

Guides, Tuesdays, 7:00-8:45pm, Age 10-14

Bloom Baby

Bloom Baby Classes are welcoming, friendly multisensory baby development classes.

Designed to support parental wellbeing and aid your little ones natural development. 



Bloom Baby meets Tuesday mornings during term time.

Caterpillar Club (suitable from 6 weeks to 6 months old) 11.15am

Art Group

The art class is a group of like-minded people who enjoy developing

and sharing their skills following guidance from a tutor.


It is a very social and welcoming group.


The art group meet on Tuesdays 2-4pm twice a month


Individuals with some experience of both drawing and painting are welcome.

Sandal Singers

Sandal Singers was set up in 2017 with 16 members and now has more than 50. 

We are a very friendly community choir and welcome anyone with a passion for singing

and having fun and no auditions necessary.


The group is aimed at any adult who enjoys singing and music.


We offer a free taster session on first visits and our subscriptions are £20 per month.

We are often asked to sing at local events and usually produce two concerts a year.


Sandal singers meet Monday evenings 7-9pm.

ARRC Group

ARRC Group is aimed at Childcare Providers and are a support group to network and discuss

issues around providing registered care for early years children,

sharing best practice for the benefit of the children within the EYFS.


An opportunity for us to enhance educational development with free play and focused activities, supporting their social and emotional development within a larger group while having fun.

Serenitas Vocal Ensemble

Serenitas Vocal Ensemble is a 3 part ladies vocal ensemble of experienced singers. We sing all genres of music including pop, gospel, opera and acappella.


We have previously performed as guests at concerts, functions and celebrations and look forward to more performances in the future! We are a lively and collaborative group who enjoy making music together.  We are available for bookings for the coming year.

Inner Wheel

Inner Wheel is open to women locally who are interested in the ideals of friendship and personal service.

Inner Wheel is one of the largest women’s voluntary organisations in the world.

Skelmanthorpe Male Voice Choir

Our choir has a long and prestigious history and this reputation continues as every week some 30 + enthusiastic members rehearse to achieve a standard which can be carried to performance. The aim of the choir is to share musical enjoyment with audiences and to help charitable organisations raise money. We have a broad repertoire covering traditional male voice pieces, classic and operatic songs from the shows and popular music.


We rehearse Tuesday evenings 7.30 to 9.30pm. 

(Alternate weekly venues at Sandal Methodist Church and Skelmanthorpe Methodist Church.)

The Gilbert and Sullivan society isa keen amateur performing arts Society based in Wakefield.  We perform one full scale production each year as well as smaller concerts, Carol singing and other events.

World of Words (WoW) is an informal group of people with English language and literature as our main area of interest. We present authors, poets, playwrights or writers of short stories for discussion. We also laugh!
